• Child Ambassadors Development

Child Ambassadors Development (CAD) is an innovative non-profit making local Community Based Organization (CBO) that works in rural and urban areas of Kisumu County to create safer, conducive and nurturing environments for Children, Youth, Young Women in their Communities to reach their full potential. At the very core of our work is Child Protection including Ending Violence against Children through Ending Child Labour, Prevention of Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA) and Gender Based Violence; Household Economic Strengthening program using Skillful Parenting and entrepreneurship skills through the Street Business School (SBS) model and business coaching to caregivers; Life Skills Education including career orientation and employability skills, Sexual reproductive Health and Rights and Financial Literacy Skills; and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programs.  Advocacy is a core cross cutting issue that is deliberately implemented through sensitization, ‘Tuongee Community Conversation’ (TCC), Community Based Psychosocial Clinics (‘Community Clinic Hubs’), peer to peer counselling, individual or in person as well as group therapies, mentorship and coaching.
These are embedded in well-targeted Social and economic empowerment programmes that aim to improve individual, household and community character and behavior communication and income. Based on our experience, this combined approach leads to better chances of sustainably securing the wellbeing of children and their families.
Child Ambassadors Development was first registered in September 2014 with the department of gender, culture and social services as a Self Help Group. The organization was then upgraded to a Community Based Organization (CBO) in
May 2022. The core mandate of the organization is to advance the rights and welfare of all Children, Youth and Young Women. Child Ambassadors seeks to empower communities with relevant skills, knowledge, opportunities and capabilities to enable them to lead dignified livelihoods.
Child Ambassadors Development (CAD)  works with both individuals and organizations championing for the rights and welfare to create enabling environments for children’s best interest.  It has a membership of over 10,000 young people scattered in learning institutions- Child Rights Clubs and as Child Ambassadors.  It was founded on the basis of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), and believes in the potentiality of the local people in solving their own problems.
